Bloom — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 16, 2026
Bloom ("the app") is a daily affirmations app published by Lothar Tjipueja. This policy explains what
information Bloom collects, how it's used, and your choices. Bloom does not require an account or login to use.
Information We Collect
- On-device data: your affirmation preferences, favorites, custom quotes, mood check-ins,
journal entries, streaks, and app settings are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us
except as described below.
- Journal-assisted affirmations: when notifications are enabled and you save a journal entry,
the text from today's entry, limited excerpts from up to 21 earlier entries, and up to 10 recently liked
affirmations are sent securely to our server and our AI provider to create supportive notifications. This
context is used for that request and is not stored in our server database. Notifications may use first names,
broad places, or event references from journal entries and may be visible on a lock screen. You can avoid this
processing and lock-screen display by disabling notifications.
- Voice input: microphone audio is handled by your device's speech-recognition service to
create editable text. Bloom does not upload or store the audio on its servers.
- Device timezone: sent to our servers so daily check-ins and streaks are calculated
correctly against your local time.
- Purchase and subscription data: if you subscribe to Bloom Premium, purchase and
entitlement information is processed by Apple and RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) to
validate and manage your subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Analytics: we use PostHog to understand general feature usage and crashes so we can improve
Bloom. Session replay is disabled and journal text is not intentionally sent to PostHog.
How We Use Information
We use the information above only to operate the app, calculate your check-in streaks correctly, manage
subscriptions, and improve the app's features and stability. We do not sell your personal data.
Third-Party Services
Data Retention
On-device data stays on your device until you delete the app. Server-side data (timezone, subscription
status) is retained only as long as needed to provide the service.
Children's Privacy
Bloom is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13.
Your Choices
You can disable analytics collection at the OS level via your device's tracking permissions, and you can
delete all local app data at any time by uninstalling Bloom.
